Fabens–Caseta International Bridge, International toll bridge between Fabens, Texas and Caseta, Chihuahua.
The Fabens-Caseta International Bridge is a two-lane crossing that spans the Rio Grande, connecting Fabens, Texas with Caseta, Chihuahua directly. It operated as a functioning border crossing until its closure in 2014.
Built in 1938 by the International Boundary and Water Commission, it replaced earlier ferry operations that had served the area since 1928. The crossing remained active for more than 75 years.
The bridge served as a gathering point for families, workers, and merchants who regularly crossed between Texas and Chihuahua. It shaped the daily rhythm of people moving between the two communities.
The crossing is no longer open for vehicle traffic, as all border crossings have been redirected to the Tornillo-Guadalupe Bridge located to the west. Visitors interested in the site may view it from a distance or learn about its historical role.
In its final full year of operation in 2011, the bridge handled more than 300,000 vehicles and tens of thousands of pedestrians. These numbers reveal how essential this route was for cross-border movement.
