Siquinalá, Municipality in Escuintla Department, Guatemala
Siquinalá is a municipality in Escuintla Department, situated at 346 meters elevation in the northern portion of the region. Its administrative territory comprises one central town plus seventeen colonies, seven hamlets, nine farms, and two agricultural communities.
In 1867, an Executive Decree formally established Siquinalá as an official town and municipality. This recognition marked the beginning of its administrative organization as a formal territorial unit.
The patron saint celebration runs from mid to late November and brings together religious devotion with local customs. This yearly tradition shapes the community's sense of identity and belonging.
The municipality sits roughly 82 kilometers from Guatemala City and about 23 kilometers from the departmental capital, accessible via major highways CA-2 and CA-9. These main routes make travel from surrounding areas relatively straightforward.
