Los Bancos Canton, Administrative canton in Pichincha Province, Ecuador
Located 94 kilometers from Quito, Los Bancos Canton spans 839 square kilometers of terrain at an elevation of 1,100 meters above sea level.
The region gained its name from large tree trunks that served as resting benches at the intersection of roads connecting Quito to Esmeraldas.
The canton celebrates its annual festivities on July 17th with traditional bull running events, artistic performances, and regional food demonstrations.
The climate varies between 15 and 32 degrees Celsius throughout the year, making it suitable for agricultural activities and outdoor tourism.
The territory includes the Mindo Nambillo Protected Forest, which forms part of the UNESCO-recognized Chocó Andino Biosphere Reserve of Pichincha.
