Ocensa pipeline, Oil pipeline system in Colombia
Ocensa is an oil pipeline system in Colombia that carries crude oil from the Cusiana and Cupiagua oil fields to the port of Coveñas on the Caribbean coast. The network spans approximately 850 kilometers and includes both underground and subsea sections to transport the oil to marine terminals.
The pipeline began operations in 1997 and became a fundamental infrastructure for oil transportation in Colombia. The project linked multiple regions and enabled continuous delivery of crude oil to international ports.
The pipeline route crosses through 42 municipalities where local communities maintain traditional agricultural practices alongside industrial development.
The system operates through multiple pumping stations that manage daily operations and maintenance. Visitors should be aware that this is an active industrial facility and access may be restricted.
The system includes 836 kilometers of underground pipeline and 12 kilometers of subsea pipeline connecting to marine terminal facilities.
