Centro Nacional de las Artes

Centro Nacional de las Artes is a cultural institution in Mexico City comprising multiple theaters, galleries, and educational facilities dedicated to the performing and visual arts. The complex includes several performance venues of different sizes, exhibition halls, and classrooms spread across its grounds to accommodate diverse artistic activities.

The institution opened in November 1994 as a centralized hub for artistic training and cultural activity in Mexico City. It was established to bring together different artistic disciplines under one complex, providing dedicated spaces for each art form to develop and flourish.

The institution houses specialized schools for dance, theater, music, and visual arts, where students and professionals work and train daily. Visitors walking through the grounds can sense the creative energy as artists rehearse and create across the different studios and exhibition spaces.

The complex is accessible by public transportation, particularly the metro station General Anaya which is a short walk away from the main entrance. It's best to check event schedules in advance, as different theaters and galleries have their own programming and some spaces may not be accessible without a ticket to a show or exhibition.

The center introduced a pet-friendly policy in August 2023, allowing visitors to bring their animals to designated areas while enjoying cultural events. This makes it one of the few arts venues where you can attend a performance or exhibition with a companion animal.
