Cañón del Río Blanco Pational Park

The park extends across 488 square kilometers, featuring a canyon system where the Rio Blanco river cuts through the Sierra Madre de Oaxaca mountains.

President Lazaro Cardenas established this protected natural area in 1938 to preserve the upper watershed region of the Rio Blanco river system.

The park spans multiple municipalities including Orizaba, Fortin, and Ixtaczoquitlan, where local residents work as guides sharing knowledge of the terrain.

Visitors can access hiking trails, observe wildlife, and participate in river activities from December to March when weather conditions remain stable.

The Rio Blanco river forms cascades and rapids as it descends from the mountains toward the Gulf Coastal Plain through limestone formations.
