Windsor Village United Methodist Church, Methodist church building in Southwest Houston, United States
Windsor Village United Methodist Church is a large Methodist congregation in Southwest Houston, Texas, located on West Orem Drive. The campus includes a Power Center that serves as a hub for nine nonprofit organizations offering community services.
The congregation was founded in 1982 with just 25 members and grew into one of the largest Methodist churches in the country under Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell. That growth made it possible to build the Power Center and expand social programs well beyond Sunday worship.
The church runs the Imani School, a private elementary and middle school open to children from the surrounding neighborhood. The name "Imani" means "faith" in Swahili and reflects the congregation's connection to African heritage.
The campus is in Southwest Houston and is easiest to reach by car. Since the site offers much more than regular worship, it helps to check in advance which programs or services are available on the day you plan to visit.
The church operates Kingdom Builders Business Corporation, a program that supports local entrepreneurship and neighborhood improvement in Southwest Houston. This kind of economic development work is rarely associated with a congregation and makes this one function almost like a local development agency.
