Hotel Beaumont, historic hotel in Texas, USA

Hotel Beaumont is an eleven-story Beaux-Arts building at the corner of Orleans and Fannin Streets in downtown Beaumont, Texas. The facade is dressed in decorative stonework with tall, evenly spaced windows that give the structure a formal and symmetrical look from the street.

The building opened in 1922, at a time when Beaumont was riding an oil-driven economic boom that had transformed the city over the previous two decades. In 1977 it was converted into senior housing, a use that continued until 2011, after which the building fell vacant.

Hotel Beaumont shares its name with the city itself, hinting at the central role it once played for travelers and locals alike. Visitors walking past today can still read the name carved into the facade, a reminder of when this corner was a meeting point for the whole region.

The building sits on a prominent downtown corner and is easy to find on foot from the surrounding streets. The interior is not open to the public, so the visit is best done from the sidewalk where the full facade is visible without obstruction.

The building once had a rooftop space called the Sky Room, where guests could look out over the city from the top floor. Rooftop amenities of this kind were rare in Texas cities during the 1920s, making this a notable feature for its time.
