Government House, Cayman Islands, Official governor residence in Seven Mile Beach, Cayman Islands
Government House is the residence of the Governor of the Cayman Islands, located on the western coast of Grand Cayman in Seven Mile Beach. The building features colonial architecture and overlooks coral reefs.
The current building was erected here in 1964, replacing an earlier structure. The original seat in George Town had burned down completely in 1972.
The residence hosts diplomatic ceremonies and receptions for international dignitaries throughout the year. These formal events make it a symbol of the islands' political identity.
The building is closed to the public since it serves as both the workplace and residence of the Governor. Visitors can view it from outside and enjoy the coastal location with its ocean views.
Queen Elizabeth II selected this residence for her stays during two official visits to the islands. These royal visits highlight the site's significance to the Commonwealth.
