Estadio Augusto César Sandino, Baseball stadium in Santa Clara, Cuba
The Estadio Augusto César Sandino features 148 concrete columns supporting extensive beams across its ceiling and incorporates Cuban marble flooring in the lobby area.
Architects Emilio Castro and Gustavo R. Arnavat designed this multi-purpose stadium in 1963, leading to its official inauguration on January 8, 1966.
The stadium serves as the principal venue for Villa Clara Naranjas baseball games and has hosted multiple international tournaments, including Baseball World Cups.
Ten lighting towers reaching 33 meters in height illuminate the stadium with 320 bulbs each, while a 10,000-gallon elevated tank supplies water through gravity.
The stadium design proved so successful that authorities replicated its architectural blueprint in other Cuban cities, including Camagüey, Matanzas, and Pinar del Rio.
