The Rungwa Game Reserve spans 9,000 square kilometers of miombo woodlands, granite outcrops, and riverine valleys along the Mpera River.
Established in 1951, the reserve protects an extension of Ruaha National Park, forming a vital corridor for wildlife migration in central Tanzania.
The reserve maintains traditional hunting practices through regulated seasons, supporting local conservation efforts while managing diverse wildlife populations.
Visitors can access the reserve through road transport connections from Usangu, Tabora, and Mpanda, traveling through Inyonga village.
The reserve features two distinct rainfall patterns, receiving 750 millimeters in the east and 1,300 millimeters in the western regions annually.
