Malibu Creek State Park, State park in Los Angeles County, United States
Malibu Creek State Park is a protected area in the Santa Monica Mountains covering around 3,300 hectares of canyons, forests, and a flowing creek. The park spans gentle hills and meadows dotted with oaks, sycamores, and rock formations.
The Chumash people lived here for centuries before the land became a country club in the early 20th century. The ranch later passed to 20th Century Fox studio, which used it as a filming location until the 1970s.
The former film studio grounds still show remnants of old sets scattered among oaks and rocks. Hikers often come across recognizable filming locations where westerns and war movies were shot.
Hiking paths lead to pools and rocky viewpoints, with some including steep sections. Most trails are also open to horseback riders, and fishing is permitted in the creek.
Redwoods grow along the shore of Century Lake, planted in 1910 and thriving unusually well in this warm climate. These trees mark the southernmost natural stand of their kind in California.
