Bryson Apartment Hotel

The building was constructed in 1913 by real estate developer Hugh W. Bryson as the neighborhood was rapidly expanding. It gained recognition as a historic landmark when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, acknowledging its importance to Los Angeles architecture.

The building embodies Beaux-Arts elegance and has served as a home for various generations of Los Angeles residents. Its distinctive stone lions and rooftop sign have made it a recognizable landmark that shapes the neighborhood's visual character.

Actor Fred MacMurray purchased the building in 1944 and held onto it for nearly three decades afterward. His acquisition came right after his breakthrough role in the noir film Double Indemnity.
