Young's Market Company Building
Young's Market Company Building, Renaissance Revival landmark in Westlake, Los Angeles, United States
The Young's Market Company Building at 1610 West 7th Street features marble columns and terra-cotta friezes across its ornate Renaissance Revival exterior structure.
Built in 1924 by architect Charles F. Plummer, this structure operated as a retail market and office space during Los Angeles commercial expansion in the 1920s.
The building transformed from a market headquarters into 44 residential lofts in 1997, reflecting the evolution of urban living patterns in Los Angeles.
Located at the intersection of West 7th Street and South Union Avenue, the structure maintains its position on the National Register of Historic Places since 2004.
The building appeared in multiple 1980s films, including Body Double and Fright Night, before its conversion to residential spaces.
