Florida International Museum, Art museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, US
The Florida International Museum was an art museum in St. Petersburg that housed multiple exhibition halls for international art collections in a spacious building on Second Avenue North. It displayed both traveling exhibitions and permanent holdings from regional artists.
The museum was founded in 1995 and initially presented major exhibitions such as Treasures of the Czars and Splendors of Ancient Egypt. It was later taken over by St. Petersburg College, integrated additional art collections, and closed its doors in 2010.
The museum displayed works by artists from Florida and the Gulf Coast region, making local artistic traditions visible to visitors. This collection reflected the creative identity of the surrounding area.
The building was located in downtown St. Petersburg and was relatively easy to reach. Visitors could explore various exhibitions that rotated regularly and covered different cultures and time periods.
The museum's final major exhibition was Vatican Splendors, a collection of religious artworks and historical artifacts from the Vatican. This exhibition marked the end of its public operations and served as a fitting closing note for the institution.
