Brandon extends across roughly 35 square miles (about 90 square kilometers) in Hillsborough County with residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, and green spaces. The area sits east of Tampa and includes several main roads running through subdivisions and shopping centers.
John Brandon founded the settlement in 1857 after acquiring land in the New Hope area. He built the first church, which also served as a schoolhouse and provided the community with a central gathering place.
The Brandon Town Center draws visitors who browse shops, eat at restaurants, and attend events. The spot serves as a social meeting point where people from the surrounding area gather and spend their free time.
Several parks and sports facilities offer space for outdoor activities and are scattered throughout the area. Schools and public institutions are accessible via main roads and serve the local population.
The first branch of the restaurant chain Beef O'Brady's opened here and later grew into a major brand in the Southeast. Today numerous locations can be found across Florida and neighboring states.
