Barron Collier commissioned architect William O. Sparklin to design this financial institution in 1927, serving as the primary bank for Collier County until 1962.
The structure represents the economic development of Florida's southwest region during the early twentieth century, when banking institutions expanded into rural communities.
The Everglades Society for Historic Preservation maintains the building and conducts renovation work to preserve its architectural features for future generations.
The building earned recognition in 2018 when Florida Preservationist Magazine listed it among the top 11 structures requiring restoration in the state.
