The Old Holy Redeemer Catholic Church displays Gothic Revival architecture with pointed arches, steep roof lines, and ornate brick details throughout its exterior structure.
The church held its first services in Mrs. A. Tress's home above a Broadway store before laying the cornerstone of its brick building in May 1912.
The original church building, constructed for $7,000, started as a mission of St. James Catholic Church in Orlando and served the growing Catholic population.
The historic church structure at 120 North Sproule Avenue received National Register of Historic Places designation on January 3, 1994.
After serving the Catholic community for 60 years, the building was sold to First United Methodist Church in 1972 for $85,000.
