Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Themed area in Lake Buena Vista, United States
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is a sprawling themed land in Lake Buena Vista, built around a remote outpost on the planet Batuu. The area mixes tall, jagged rock spires with low, flat-roofed buildings in grey and tan, while a large spacecraft rests near a fence between the structures and the rocky wall.
This land replaced a section of the park in the late 2010s, after years of planning to build a new story tied to the films. It opened in 2019 as the largest single themed expansion in the resort's history.
The land functions like a working village where visitors can watch mechanics repairing droids and pilots haggling over supplies. In the marketplace, the sound of alien languages and the smell of grilled food make the setting feel lived-in rather than like a stage.
Wear comfortable shoes because the paths wind through uneven ground and long stretches between the main areas. Morning and late afternoon tend to be less crowded, giving you more room to move around the market stalls and docking bays.
Look closely at the rock spires, where tiny nests and mechanical marks suggest that creatures have been living there long before the village was built. The surface textures change color through the day, making the same cliff feel like a different place at sunset.
