The Sorcerer's Hat, Entertainment structure at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, United States
The Sorcerer's Hat was a cone-shaped structure standing about 37 meters tall with a deep blue exterior decorated with silver stars and moons, positioned at the entrance of Disney's Hollywood Studios. The form created a striking visual centerpiece that dominated views when entering the park.
Disney built the structure in September 2001 as part of the 100 Years of Magic celebration, replacing the Earffel Tower as the park's primary symbol. It stood for approximately 14 years before being removed in 2015 to restore views of the park's historic theater backdrop.
The structure drew inspiration from Mickey Mouse's blue magical hat featured in Disney's 1940 Fantasia film, serving as a gathering point for guests. Around its base, visitors found shops and areas dedicated to trading collectibles and purchasing memorabilia.
The structure was visible from the pedestrian areas during park hours without requiring separate admission and served as a clear landmark when arriving. The shaded area underneath provided shelter during inclement weather and created a natural meeting point for guests.
Interactive kiosks installed beneath the structure allowed visitors to explore information about Walt Disney's life through photographs and historical documents. These stations provided an additional reason to linger and learn about the founder's vision.
