Muppet*Vision 3D, 3D film attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios, United States
Muppet*Vision 3D is a film show in a dedicated theater at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where guests watch a blend of three-dimensional movie images and live stage effects. The technology combines projections on the screen with moving figures, fog, and other elements inside the auditorium itself.
Jim Henson directed this production shortly before his death in 1990, making it his final major collaboration with Disney. The show opened in May 1991 at Disney's Hollywood Studios and has run for more than three decades with few changes.
The theater experience includes interactions with Muppet characters through animatronics, physical props, and special effects that extend beyond the traditional movie screen format.
The entrance leads through a waiting area styled as a laboratory, where guests watch short videos on screens before entering the main auditorium. The show itself runs for about twelve minutes and takes place in an air-conditioned theater with seating.
A group of mechanical penguins plays musical instruments onstage, while soap bubbles drop from the ceiling and real beams of light sweep through the room. The characters appear to actually break through holes in the screen and emerge into the audience space.
