Millennium Village, Exhibition pavilion in Epcot World Showcase, US
The Millennium Village was a 60,000-square-foot exhibition hall within Epcot's World Showcase that displayed interactive exhibits and cultural presentations from more than 50 countries. The complex featured multiple country pavilions and performance areas spread throughout the indoor space.
This pavilion opened in October 1999 and closed in January 2001 as part of Walt Disney World's millennium celebration. After its closure, the space was transformed into World ShowPlace and repurposed for special events and festivals.
The performance spaces showcased traditional crafts and cultural demonstrations from around the world. Visitors could watch artisans and cultural representatives share their traditions directly with guests throughout the pavilion.
The entire exhibition was indoors, making it accessible regardless of weather conditions. Visitors could move freely between the different country displays without needing to navigate between separate buildings.
Visitors participated in a World Culture Game where teams competed while testing their knowledge of international traditions and customs. This interactive element set the space apart from typical static exhibition halls and encouraged learning through competition.
