Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: Movie Set Adventure, Interactive playground at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Florida
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is an interactive playground at Disney's Hollywood Studios that immerses visitors in a miniaturized world. The space features 30-foot-tall grass blades, oversized insects, and giant everyday objects where children can climb, slide, and navigate through plant-root mazes.
The playground opened in December 1990, bringing the film's adventure to life for young visitors. It closed in April 2016 to make room for a major expansion project at the park.
The playground brought scenes from the 1989 film to life, letting visitors experience how the world looks from the perspective of someone shrunk to insect size. Children explored oversized insects and everyday objects that appeared completely different from this unusual viewpoint.
The playground provided soft surfaces, misting stations to cool off, and climbing structures suited to different abilities. Benches throughout the space let parents supervise their children while finding shade and places to rest.
A giant garden hose installation sprayed water alongside oversized mechanical bumblebees while visitors climbed through plant-root mazes and crossed rope structures resembling spider webs. These enlarged elements created an unusual illusion of being impossibly small.
