Edisto Beach State Park lies on Edisto Island in Colleton County, South Carolina, about 50 miles south of Charleston. The park covers maritime forest, beach and tidal marsh, and its trail system, the longest handicapped-accessible hiking and biking network in the state, passes a Native American shell midden dated to 2000 BC and a survey monument placed by Alexander Bache in 1850.

Edisto Beach State Park was created on land donated in 1935 by the Edisto Company, making it one of South Carolina's first state parks. It was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, and many of the original CCC buildings still stand and remain in use.

The park's trail system passes a Native American shell midden dated to 2000 BC, a visible trace of the people who harvested shellfish along this coast long before European settlement. The Edisto Interpretive Center explains the ACE Basin estuarine reserve through interactive exhibits.
