Embarcadero West, now addressed as 275 Battery Street, is a 30-story, 123.1 m (404 ft) office skyscraper in the Financial District of San Francisco. Completed in 1989 and designed by John Portman, it is part of the Embarcadero Center complex but was never physically connected to the other towers.
Completed in 1989 as Embarcadero West, the tower was built as part of the Embarcadero Center complex, though it was never physically connected to the other buildings. Boston Properties sold it to TIAA-CREF in December 2005 for more than US$205 million, and TIAA-CREF sold it to Rockpoint Group in October 2014 for around US$307 million.
The tower at 275 Battery Street houses the Consulate General of Japan and the law firms Crowell & Moring, Gordon & Rees, Lieff Cabraser and Squire Patton Boggs. It was designed by architect John Portman and completed in 1989 as part of the Embarcadero Center complex, though it stands apart from the other towers.
The tower stands at 275 Battery Street, a few blocks from the Embarcadero waterfront and its promenade. The Consulate General of Japan occupies space in the building, so expect security screening and a queue at its entrance on business days. The other floors are private law offices and not open to visitors.
