The building, completed in 1969, replaced the former Fife Building and stood as the fifth tallest structure in San Francisco during its early years.
The tower's corporate signage transitions over time reflect San Francisco's business evolution, from Mutual Benefit Life to AirTouch and later US Bank.
The structure contains 484,512 square feet of office space served by 13 elevators, housing companies including Alpine Investors, Lennar, and Salesforce.
Shorenstein invested 5 million dollars in 1995 to transform the building's lobby and plaza, maintaining its position as a Financial District centerpiece.
