50 Beale Street

50 Beale Street is a modern office tower with 23 stories in San Francisco's Financial District. The building rises about 330 feet (100 meters) and features expansive windows throughout its facade.

The building was completed in 1967 as the world headquarters for Bechtel Corporation. In 2006 it became the main office for Blue Shield of California.

Inside is a preserved 1920s railcar that the Bechtel family once used as a residence during the Hoover Dam construction. This historical artifact tells the story of the company's origins and its connection to major infrastructure projects.

The building features special window treatments that reduce heat and glare while keeping the interior comfortable. Visitors will notice the bright reflections from the facade throughout the day, especially in strong sunlight.

The tower has changed hands several times over the decades, with Paramount Group taking ownership in 2014. These ownership shifts show how this location remained valuable to different major companies.
