Salesforce Tower, Office skyscraper in Financial District, San Francisco, US
The Salesforce Tower is a 326-meter skyscraper with 61 floors in San Francisco's Financial District, making it the tallest building in the city. Its tapered postmodern facade steps back at several points and ends in a slender crown that lights up at night.
The building was completed in 2018 following a design by architect César Pelli. It rose on the site of the former Transbay Terminal and marked a shift in San Francisco's skyline in the 21st century.
The building's crown displays an LED art installation called Day for Night, which shifts through patterns and colors each evening. These 11,000 lights become a landmark for people across the city, turning the summit into a changing visual beacon.
A system of 36 elevators carries visitors and employees to the upper floors, while a gondola leads directly to Salesforce Park. The park itself spans about 5.4 acres and offers a rooftop terrace with seating areas and plantings.
The building contains 1,762 steps from bottom to top and stands about 7 feet (2 meters) taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Its crown rests on a steel frame that was built separately and later placed onto the main structure.
