Foundry Square, Office complex in South of Market, San Francisco, United States

Foundry Square is a complex of four ten-story buildings at Howard and First Streets in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco. Each building occupies a different corner of the intersection, and their 200-foot dual-glaze glass walls frame a unified public square formed by the four open corners. The combined interior area is 1,200,000 square feet.

Construction occurred in phases, with initial buildings completed in 2003 and further structures added in 2007 and 2014. This gradual expansion shaped the complex into its current configuration.

The four open corners of the intersection form a single public square of about 1,000 square feet, framed by the buildings' 200-foot dual-glaze glass walls and an arcade. Richard Deutsch's stainless steel sculpture "Time Signature", tree bosques, ground-floor cafes and over-scaled pots tie the corners together; the landscape work earned SWA Group an ASLA Northern California Chapter Merit Award in 2006.

The four buildings occupy the corners of Howard and First Streets, a short walk from the Salesforce Transit Center. The open corners form a single public square of about 1,000 square feet, framed by ground-floor cafes, tree bosques and over-scaled pots, so pedestrians can cross the block through the plaza rather than along the street.

Each corner building features dual-glaze glass walls that visually and functionally link interior and exterior spaces. This design creates a seamless transition between enclosed office areas and the open square at the intersection.
