340 Fremont Street is a 40-story residential tower in Rincon Hill with opposing glass facades structured by patterned concrete panels and vertical fins. The building holds 348 rental units, a dedicated amenity floor, multiple outdoor gardens, and four street-level townhouses integrated into its base.

The residential tower was completed in 2016 during a phase of urban development as San Francisco addressed its growing housing demand. The project reflects the city's expansion of the housing market following economic growth in the region.

The Resident's Club uses design elements inspired by California wineries, creating shared spaces that function as work areas during the day and dining venues in the evening.

The tower stands on Fremont Street between Folsom and Harrison, a short walk from the Embarcadero BART and Muni stations. The midblock passage off Fremont Street holds a publicly accessible interpretive display on the site's former maritime labor buildings; the residential floors, gardens and townhouses are private.

The site's previous buildings housed the National Maritime Engineers Benefit Association (340 Fremont, built 1962) and the Seafarer's Union (350 Fremont, built 1952). To offset their loss, the project includes a publicly accessible interpretive display in a midblock passage off Fremont Street.
