181 Fremont Street, Mixed-use skyscraper in South of Market District, San Francisco, United States
181 Fremont is a 245-metre mixed-use tower in the South of Market district, designed by Heller Manus Architects. Its glass facade with green-blue tint is crossed by a white structural frame forming large chevrons, with wide white columns at the corners. Offices occupy floors 3 to 38, 67 condominiums fill floors 41 to 57, and a spire brings the total height to 802.5 feet.
SKS Investments proposed a 66-floor, 900-foot tower on the site in 2007, then cut it to the parcel's 700-foot limit set by the Transbay Center District Plan approved in 2012. Design was approved that December; Jay Paul Company bought the project on March 29, 2013, and groundbreaking followed on November 12, 2013. Meta leased the whole office portion in 2017, and Strava took four of those floors in March 2025.
The tower's white chevron frame and green-blue glass set it apart from its neighbours, and its 7th-floor bridge leads directly into the rooftop park atop the Salesforce Transit Center. Its upper homes were first marketed as Park 181 before the name was shortened to 181 Fremont Residences. Tenants have changed hands: Meta took the offices in 2017, Zendesk arrived in 2024, and Strava opened headquarters on four subleased levels in 2025.
The building sits right next to the Salesforce Transit Center, making it easy to reach by public transportation from across the city. Access to many areas inside is restricted since it is a business building with security checkpoints.
The 7th floor connects directly to the rooftop park atop the adjacent Salesforce Transit Center, letting occupants reach the 5.4-acre public garden without going down to street level. The tower's slender form, wrapped in a white chevron frame over green-blue glass, was designed by Heller Manus Architects.
