Salesforce West, also known as 50 Fremont Center, is a 43-story, 183 m (600 ft) office tower completed in 1985 at Fremont and Mission Streets, on the boundary of San Francisco's Financial District and SoMa. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, it has stepped-back vertical bays at each corner rising to a crown that evokes historic Art Deco skyscrapers, a profile compared to Eliel Saarinen's Tribune Tower design.
The building was constructed between 1983 and 1985 as a development project by Fremont Properties. It was later acquired by Salesforce in 2015 and has since become a significant part of the company's real estate portfolio in the city.
The name Salesforce West dates from the company's 2015 purchase of the tower for $637.8 million; it is one of three buildings in the firm's San Francisco campus, with Salesforce East at 350 Mission Street and Salesforce Tower at 415 Mission Street. Tenants listed in the building have included Mellon Capital Management, Baker Tilly, City National Bank and Univision.
The tower stands at the corner of Fremont and Mission Streets, on the boundary between the Financial District and SoMa, a short walk from the Embarcadero BART and Muni stations. It is a privately operated office building, so interior access is limited to tenants and their guests; visitors see the stepped-back facade and crown from the street.
