Oracle Park, Baseball stadium in South of Market, San Francisco, US.
Oracle Park is a baseball stadium in the South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco that sits directly on the bay and holds roughly 42,000 spectators. The right field ends at a tall wall that extends into the water, where small boats anchor during games.
The ballpark opened in 2000 as the first major baseball facility in decades built without public funds. Since then it has been renamed several times based on sponsorship but has remained home to the San Francisco Giants.
The ballpark honors Willie McCovey, a Giants legend whose memory lives on in the cove beyond right field. During home games, fans gather in orange and black jerseys around the concourses while others wait on the water to catch balls.
Several subway lines and commuter trains stop within walking distance of the stadium, and ferries dock at nearby terminals. On game days the streets around Third and King can get crowded, so arriving early helps.
During games dozens of kayaks and small boats drift in the bay behind right field, waiting to catch balls that fly into the water. This floating fan base has become a regular part of every home game.
