Eastern Star Hall, Masonic meeting hall in Sacramento, California.
Eastern Star Hall is a gathering space in Sacramento featuring a distinctive exterior of colorful brick and terra cotta details in Romanesque Revival style. The building stands on K Street across from Sutter's Fort and continues to host community meetings and events.
Five chapters of the Order of the Eastern Star worked together between 1923 and 1928 to build this structure. The building received listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993.
The building represents a milestone in how women became involved in Masonic organizations. Visitors can see today how the space continues to serve as a gathering place for the community.
The hall sits directly on K Street, easy to spot across from Sutter's Fort State Historic Park. Keep in mind that it functions as an active meeting place, so viewing may be best from outside unless special access is arranged.
This is one of only four buildings constructed specifically for the Order of the Eastern Star. It remains the sole one among those four still in active use today.
