Sacramento Children's Museum

The Sacramento Children's Museum is a place for children from birth to about eight years old to learn and play with many interactive stations. Each area encourages children to be active and discover their surroundings by trying things out themselves.

Local educators founded this institution in 2005 as a nonprofit organization and opened it to the public in 2011. It was the first museum of its kind in the city of Sacramento.

Children act out everyday roles in play areas designed as a grocery store, doctor's office, and other familiar spaces. These settings help them understand how the world works while learning to cooperate with other children.

The museum is located in Rancho Cordova and is accessible to visitors most days of the week. Families should wear clothes that let children move and play freely.

A special highlight is a glass beehive with live bees where visitors can watch the insects at work. Beyond that, there are chances to interact with different small animals.
