Mount Emily, Mountain in Curry County, Oregon, US

Mount Emily is a mountain in the Klamath Mountains of Curry County in southwestern Oregon, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The summit rises to nearly 3,000 feet (about 900 meters) above sea level and sits a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, close to the California border near the town of Brookings.

Mount Emily was recognized as a natural landmark of the region and eventually listed on the National Register of Historic Places, acknowledging its place in Oregon's story. The mountain has remained largely free of major development, which has kept its character intact over time.

Mount Emily sits within the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, which keeps the area free of roads and buildings and gives wildlife room to move. Deer, squirrels, and many birds are commonly seen by people walking the trails.

Weather near Mount Emily can shift quickly because of its proximity to the coast, with fog or rain often rolling in without much warning. Visiting on a clear day gives the best views from the upper slopes, and sturdy shoes are a good idea for the uneven terrain.

Although Mount Emily is known mainly as a natural feature, it holds a listing on the National Register of Historic Places, which is unusual for a mountain with no major buildings or structures. This recognition points to its role in the broader story of the land rather than to any single event or construction.
