Camp Pioneer, Boy Scout summer camp in Mount Jefferson Wilderness, Oregon.
Camp Pioneer sits at 4,500 feet elevation on a 48-acre property with Pine Lake and multiple facilities designed for outdoor youth programs. The site features water sports areas, hiking trails, and activity buildings used for group instruction and skill development.
Cap Monroe and Eagle Scouts from Albany founded the camp in 1936 to provide outdoor education in the region. It grew into a major center for youth programs within the Cascade Pacific Council.
The camp teaches practical outdoor skills such as water sports, hiking, and wilderness navigation to help young people build confidence and learn teamwork. Visitors can observe groups working together and supporting each other through challenges.
The camp operates during summer months from July through August and requires groups to have at least two adults accompanying youth participants. Staff members on site can provide guidance on activity schedules and help orient visitors to the different facilities.
The Cascade Ranger program takes participants aged 14 to 17 on extended backpacking trips near Mount Jefferson and Three-Fingered Jack peaks. These wilderness expeditions offer a chance to experience the high alpine environment away from the main camp facilities.
