Simon Benson House, Queen Anne style residence in Portland, Oregon.
The Simon Benson House features detailed woodwork, multiple gables, and decorative elements characteristic of turn-of-the-century residential architecture in Portland.
Built in 1900, the house belonged to Norwegian immigrant Simon Benson, who established Benson Polytechnic High School and donated drinking fountains to Portland.
The building represents the architectural preferences of successful Portland merchants during the early 1900s through its refined craftsmanship and design elements.
Located at 1803 SW Park Avenue on Portland State University campus, the house functions as a meeting space and information center.
The entire structure was relocated from its original location at SW 11th and Clay Avenue to its current position in 2000.
