Farewell to Orpheus, Bronze fountain and sculpture in Portland State University, United States.
The bronze sculpture at Portland State University depicts Eurydice from Greek mythology, with water features incorporated into its design.
Created by Frederic Littman between 1968 and 1973, the sculpture became part of the South Park Blocks Urban Renewal Development Project.
The bronze artwork represents Eurydice bidding farewell to her husband Orpheus, drawing from ancient Greek mythology.
The fountain recycles 227 gallons of water and includes seating areas for students and visitors near Southwest Montgomery Street.
Three university employees restored the fountain in 2009 after a decade of inactivity, adding new fountain heads, lighting, and wiring.
