Garibaldi Névé, Glacier on Mount Garibaldi, British Columbia, Canada
The Garibaldi Névé extends over 30 square kilometers across the northern and eastern sides of Mount Garibaldi, feeding nine distinct outlet glaciers.
The first mountaineers reached this glacial expanse in 1907 during the initial ascent of Mount Garibaldi, named after Italian patriot Giuseppe Garibaldi.
The Squamish people refer to the mountain as Nch'ḵay̓, connecting the glacier's presence to their understanding of water systems in their territory.
Visitors access the névé through Diamond Head parking lot, following an 11-kilometer trail past Elfin Lakes with marked routes using cairns.
The névé maintains constant ice movement while draining eastward into Pitt River through multiple glacial streams at elevations reaching 2,676 meters.
