McGurk Meadow, Wet meadow in Yosemite National Park, California.
McGurk Meadow is a wet meadow in the Sierra Nevada at about 6,900 feet elevation, where lush grasses and native plants grow. The terrain is relatively flat and surrounded by forests that frame views of the surrounding mountain ridges.
A cattleman named John McGurk settled in the area in the late 1800s and left behind traces of his time there. His old cabin still stands partially near the meadow today.
The meadow is a place where visitors can observe wildflowers like lupines and paintbrushes blooming during summer. It offers good opportunities to photograph nature and experience the local plant life.
The trail is easy to walk and requires little elevation gain, ideal for visitors of varying abilities. A parking area along Glacier Point Road provides convenient access to the hike.
Black bears and deer come to feed here especially during early morning and late afternoon hours. Hikers should be attentive during these times to observe these animals in their natural setting.
