Lake Havasu City, Desert resort city in Mohave County, Arizona, United States.
Lake Havasu City is a city in Mohave County, Arizona, United States, stretching along the Colorado River between desert mountains. Residential neighborhoods surround a downtown area with shops and dining along the riverbank.
Entrepreneur Robert McCulloch founded the settlement in 1963 on the site of a former Army camp along the Colorado River. He later purchased the old London Bridge in England and had it transported stone by stone to attract tourists.
The city takes its name from Lake Havasu, which means "blue water" in the Mohave language. Boating docks line the waterfront, and locals often spend weekends on the river for fishing or water sports.
Arizona State Route 95 runs through town and connects it with other communities in the region. Local bus routes operate within the city, and most visitors rely on a personal vehicle for longer trips.
The London Bridge from England has stood here since the early 1970s, spanning a channel at the man-made lake. McCulloch had the original granite blocks numbered and shipped to Arizona, where they were rebuilt over a rock formation.
