Cattail Cove State Park, State park in Mohave County, Arizona.
Cattail Cove State Park is a recreation area with approximately 2,000 acres of land along Lake Havasu, offering sandy beaches, desert hills, and multiple water access points. The park includes 61 campsites with water and electricity hookups, several boat ramps, and beach facilities for both day visitors and overnight stays.
The area emerged in 1970 following the creation of Lake Havasu by Parker Dam on the Colorado River. The formation of this artificial lake established the park as a recreation destination in what was previously a more arid landscape.
The name comes from the cattail plants that grow abundantly in the shallow coves along the shoreline. These marsh plants define the landscape and create distinct habitat zones that visitors can observe while exploring the water's edge.
The park is best explored on foot or by boat, with boat ramps providing easy access to the lake for various water activities. Visitors should prepare for hot weather and bring plenty of water and sun protection, as the area offers very little natural shade.
The park features specialized boat-in camping spots along the shoreline where visitors can anchor their vessels and set up camp directly on secluded beaches. This experience is uncommon in the region and offers a completely different way to explore the area.
