Silver State Arena, entertainment complex in Las Vegas, Nevada
Silver State Arena is a planned multipurpose venue on the Las Vegas Strip designed to hold about 20,000 spectators for sports events, concerts, and large gatherings. The building was conceived as a modern sports facility with a retractable roof to accommodate both indoor and outdoor events as part of a larger resort complex with a hotel and retail spaces.
The site previously housed the popular Wet 'n Wild waterpark, which closed in 2004 and left the land vacant for many years. The project was conceived in the 2010s but experienced repeated delays due to financing obstacles and economic challenges, ultimately leading county commissioners to vote against further extensions in 2023.
The site is located on the Las Vegas Strip, a centrally positioned area easily accessible by foot or car and surrounded by many other hotels and entertainment options. Since the project has not been pursued since 2023, the site is currently an empty lot not open to visitors.
The site experienced a long history of failed development attempts, including earlier plans for a resort called Crown Vegas and the All Net project, before ultimately being conceived as Silver State Arena. Despite ambitious plans including a building that would have stood nearly 1,200 feet tall and potentially become one of the West Coast's tallest structures, construction never began.
