X-Scream, Teeter-totter roller coaster at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower in Las Vegas, United States
X-Scream is a roller coaster mounted on a narrow platform atop The STRAT Hotel and Casino tower in Las Vegas, sitting at more than 860 feet above the ground. The track juts out beyond the edge of the building and swings riders forward and backward in a repeated seesaw motion.
The ride opened in late October 2003 when the tower hotel was still known as the Stratosphere. The installation was part of a series of new attractions added to the observation deck at that time.
The X-Scream reflects Las Vegas entertainment values by combining mechanical engineering with gravity-defying experiences, attracting thrill-seekers from around the world.
The ride opens in the afternoon and closes in the evening, with exact times varying by season. All riders must meet a minimum height requirement of around 52 inches and should be comfortable with heights and sudden movements.
The entire structure weighs around 50 tons and uses a tilting mechanism that rolls riders forward without warning. The carriage stops abruptly just before the apparent drop into the void, creating a brief moment of weightlessness.
