Cedar Mountain Wilderness, Wilderness area in northwestern Utah, United States.
The Cedar Mountain range extends from 4,200 feet to 7,700 feet elevation, featuring limestone outcrops, sagebrush grasslands, and juniper woodland slopes.
The Cedar Mountain Wilderness became part of the National Wilderness Preservation System in 2006, encompassing 104,585 acres managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
Early pioneers named the mountains after the abundant juniper trees, which they incorrectly identified as cedars, establishing a lasting regional nomenclature.
The area lacks designated trails and water sources, with visitors needing to navigate using open terrain methods and bring their own water supplies.
A herd of feral horses has inhabited the region since the late 19th century, utilizing artificial watering troughs maintained by land management authorities.
