Burley is a commercial center in Cassia County situated along the Snake River. The town sits at an elevation of about 1,270 meters (4,165 feet), with U.S. Route 30 passing through its downtown area.
The town was founded in 1905 and named after David Ellsworth Burley, a railroad employee. It became the administrative center of Cassia County in 1918.
