Sixshooter Peaks, Desert summit formation in San Juan County, United States
The Sixshooter Peaks consist of two sandstone summits reaching heights of 6,379 feet for North Peak and 6,154 feet for South Peak.
The first recorded ascent of North Sixshooter Peak took place on April 14, 1962, by climbers Maurice Horn, Huntley Ingalls, and Steve Komito.
The geological formations contain ancient petroglyphs and pictographs from the Anasazi civilization, marking their presence in the surrounding cliffs.
Spring and fall provide the most suitable conditions for climbing, with various routes ranging from beginner-friendly to advanced difficulty levels.
The two peaks received their name because their silhouettes against the sky resemble revolvers pointing upward from the desert landscape.
