The excavation area extends over 4.5 square kilometers, featuring intact city walls that measure 10.5 kilometers in circumference and reach 8.83 meters in height.

The location functioned as the capital of the Chu State during the Spring and Autumn period, maintaining its position as a political center for over four hundred years.

The site contains three ancient burial grounds with more than seven hundred tombs of royal families and officials, revealing artifacts from over two millennia.

Visitors can access the archaeological site through long-distance buses departing from Wuhan to Jingzhou, followed by local transportation to the designated area.

The excavated location yielded numerous Han Dynasty bamboo writing slips and painted lacquerware, providing direct evidence of ancient administrative practices.
