The Compass Bank Building is an 18-story office tower at 505 Marquette Avenue NW in downtown Albuquerque. It rises 238 feet (73 m), or 272 feet (83 m) with rooftop antennas. Designed by William E. Burk, Jr., it has twelve office floors above a wider six-story base whose floors 2–6 form a parking garage.
Completed in 1966 by the National Building Corporation of Tennessee, the tower was the state's tallest structure at its opening. Its construction represented a major development in Albuquerque's growth during that era.
The parking levels display molded concrete walls with patterns of stylized quatrefoils that draw inspiration from Moorish architectural elements.
The building sits at 505 Marquette Avenue Northwest in the heart of the commercial district and is easy to locate. Note that access is primarily for tenants and business activities rather than general public tours.
The parking garage occupies floors 2 through 6 of the building's wider six-story base, not an underground level. Its exterior walls are molded concrete with an open grillwork pattern of stylized quatrefoils inspired by Moorish architecture.
